Mr Maintenance

Currently hungry and tired. I don't know why I'm blogging. I just feel the urge to write. Even if nobody reads this, I feel the sense of accomplishment when I get this of my chest. Or head, rather.

Today the maintenance guy came over to check up on the conditions of the rooms. We get replacements for broken appliances. There was nothing wrong, or broken, or that needed fixing, but complain is all we (John, Nai Chen, Nasr and I) do. We complained about the kitchen knives, the saucepan, the can opener, the bedsheets, the microwave, the oven, the carpets, the chairs, the lights and almost everything else. The thing is, none of these things were really broken or faulty, we just wanted new stuff. So the guy inspects and as he is going through the toaster, John says "cannot use laa, rusty already inside" and we're like "yaa, dirty.. how to toast bread..". He goes "It's not rusty, that's just burn marks and grease, it'll wash off just fine.." Honestly speaking, the used toaster was still in mint condition, but like we care. So we bug the guy some more "the screw is loose..", "doesn't heat up well one..", "takes too long to toast.." and yada yada yada. "We need a new one, it's not good anymore.." goes John. The guy takes out his checkpad, gives us a good look and says "Sorry, but if it's not broken, we can't replace it". We then stare at him for a while. "The knives then, need new one.." "not sharp already" "blunt some more" (which is basically the same thing). "The pan, too small" "cannot fit patties" bla bla bla. We insist and insist, and finally before leaving, the guy says, "look, the toaster is working well, if you want me to change it, you've got to break it first". We all stare at each other and then at him "you mean you want us to break it?" He laughs out loud and says "I didn't say that", smiling away out of our room. This is what happened next:
